Our Department of Mathematics and Science Education consists of the Divisions of Mathematics Education and Science Education. The primary goal of our department is to train qualified teachers who develop positive attitudes toward teaching, are equipped with professional skills, and closely follow innovations in education. In this direction, we aim for our graduates to be individuals who do not merely transfer knowledge, but act as proper role models for their students through effective communication skills, have deeply grasped how to learn, and possess strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities. Shaped in line with the principles of the Ministry of National Education and the Council of Higher Education YÖK, our educational approach focuses on raising highly qualified educators who possess the competencies required by the information age, produce knowledge, and can apply their acquired knowledge in various fields. We attach great importance to our pre-service teachers becoming individuals who can engage in teamwork with an interdisciplinary perspective, adapt to the dynamics of the era by using educational technologies effectively, and successfully blend theory with practice. At the same time, our fundamental mission is to train self-confident and tolerant teachers who uphold human rights, democracy, and ethical values, and who contribute to the development of society's science and mathematics literacy by adopting lifelong learning as a principle. Our ultimate vision is to be a respected and referenced department that pioneers national and international scientific research by contributing to the solution of educational problems with scientific evidence. The divisions within our department stand out with their strong academic staff and international exchange opportunities. The Science Education Division, which produced its first graduates in 2011, employs 10 professors, 4 associate professors, 1 assistant professor, and 2 research assistants: offering master's with and without thesis and doctoral programs in addition to undergraduate education. Similarly, the Mathematics Education Division, which also produced its first graduates in 2013, provides undergraduate and master's with and without thesis education with an expert staff consisting of 2 professors, 3 associate professors, 1 assistant professor, 1 postdoctoral research assistant, and 1 research assistant. In both divisions, faculty and student exchanges are actively supported within the scope of the Erasmus and Farabi mobility programs, thereby enabling the multifaceted academic and cultural development of our students.
